My brother-in-law had this merc in the mid 60's. I was part of the crew so a couple of years ago I picked up the AMT Mercury kit and started to replicate the car. The front fenders and hood were glued together to make a one piece front end. The frame was modified to take the straight axle which was the style at the time. I took the rear axle from a NASCAR kit and added the ladder bars which were a type of traction bar. The engine came from the Revell 32 3 window kit. I added Weber carbs from the parts box and fabricated my own headers. The distributor was also wired. I turned a few of the pieces out of aluminum on my lathe. The paint is Boyd's metalic blue.
