been workin on it for a day or so now. it's the amt 1/25th scale peterbuilt wrecker. i haven't gotten very far, just got the engine partically put together, along with part of the frame, and the bed for it. i'm having a hard time deciding what color to paint it. any ideas?
has anyone else done this kit? it's really confusing. you have to do a lot of fitting, adjusting, fitting again before glueing.

Troy I take it you are talking about this one. With this issue being reissued so many times the mold is showing its age. You will have fit problems with parts. But with a little work you can get something like this. With its problems of fit it is still a good kit.

the kit comes with a sleeper as well, because it is the same cab/chassis as the regular semi, even has a 5th wheel. so i'm going to be adding the sleeper in there as well (lengthen the frame and all). i was thinking orange. i've got a ranger i'm workin on that is gonna be yellow. or maybe teal....hmmmmm now i'm thinking again. oh well, it's still too far down the road.

Hi, I`ve been following this thread with great interest and can confirm that a wrecker ( like my Mercedes-Benz) finished in yellow and black, with loads of chrome looks quite spectacular. Perhaps you guys over there can answer a question for me. I`ve been chasing a Commodore wrecker on e-bay for quite a while now (I keep getting outbid at the last moment) and wondered if that was a Peterbuilt. I can`t tell from the small photo of the box top. Judging by the simplyfied jib on the back of your Peterbilt, I guess it`s about the 1960`s. do you have a date of manufacture for it by any chance? Jim.

Hi Jim, Theres not been to many wreckers in kit form for big rigs. Well I take that back a few. Heres a list of whats out there.
1972 AMT T522 Peterbilt Wrecker (small window) Discontinued 1977 AMT T533 Peterbilt Wrecker (Original) the following numbers are of same kit reissued through the years. #6110 - #6667 - #8126 - #31750
Revell 1996 #7509 Kenworth W-900 Wrecker. Revell 1996 #7634 Kenworth K-900 Wrecker. Same as above but miss boxed. Revell 1992 #7541 Peterbilt Wrecker Big 3 rear axle unit (Stepps towing)
Italeri #772 Scania Bro Wrecker. Italeri #794 Western Star Wrecker (U.S. Wrecker Truck) Italeri #3808 Mercedes Wrecker Truck Italeri # Ford 9000 Wrecker (U.S. Wrecker Truck) Sorry stock # eludes me right now but all the above Italeri wreckers used the same wrecker assembly.

Hi todd, Thanks a lot for that info. The wrecker I`m after is either Italeri or Revell (I can`t remember which). It`s 1:24 and has `Commodor` in large letters across the top of the box. The rig is finished bright red with gold decals. Any idea which one it is that I`m talking about?

That would be the Italeri WesternStar wrecker. Kit #794. The front of the box shows a red truck with gray boom and gold lettering. The box says ROAD COMMANDER U.S. Wrecking Truck. That was the second wrecker from Italeri in 1/24 scale.

That`s the one Todd. (don`t know where I got `Commodor from ). Next time one appears on e-Bay(UK) I`m `going for it`. Main problem is that these bidding programs are becoming very popular over here and unless you go in with a really silly high bid you tend to lose out every time. Thanks for your help. Jim
