G'day, This Monogram 48 B-17g kit was bourght some 2 years ago as a second hand/partly assembled kit, I was given several sheets of decals for 'STRANGE' schemed birds. Either B-17's, Mossie's, B-24's and a Lancaster, that the RAF flew as early ECM's, Radar Mappers and other odd electronic gadgits. So this 'twisted' B-17g was remodeled as an ECM flown with the codes BU-G, the chinne turret was removed and the radar housing [from a Tamiya Lancaster] was fitted to the chinne position, the decals are an old Eastern European crowd and silvered when applied to the model. The silvering was the carrier film being waffer thin and not adhering to the model surfaces, I removed the silvering around the code letters by cutting close to the edge of the code and lifting the film away, I repainted the area in flat black where I had scratched the surfaces. The remaining film I'll coat with liberal amounts of gloss clear before applying the Dullcoat to them. The enamels used on this bird are Humbrol numbers 29, 30 and 33. It was built as a 'different' subject matter.

Thanks guys for the kind words.
When I got this kit both the fuselage {assembled} and wings were half assembled, the wing fit to the fuselage is a key lock type, which when fitted together held up realy well, the only filler used was mainly around the Radar Dome at the nose, the B-17 being rounded as against the Lancaster's oval shape.
The other minor problem is the radar antenia at the rear of the fuselage, they are in the way at times when handling this model, they are left over bits from a 48 'Irving' and the Acc Min's Avenger.

Thanks all for the kind words, Sometime in the next few months the "E" version will be built in RAAF markings. Yes we ordered 175 [but sadly cancelled the order soon after], of these and one did fly in the Sates in RAAF markings sometime in '42.
