G'day, This continuation of the 'weathering models' deals with either Armour or soft skin vehicles, these following model subjects I built using 3 different techneques on each vehicle type, from Pastels, Saw Dust/Pastels/Acrylic Paints, or even Artists Oils. In the case of the WC54 Ambulance, Dark Brown pastels were used to 'Dust Up' the appearence before fininishing the model. This M12 using Saw Dust as a base to make mud touched with Pastels to tone up the appearence, with a wash of Acrylic BUFF to replicate the dust. White Glue was used to adhere the saw dust, when almost dry Dark Brown Pastel was applied to darken the 'MUD'. - This model originaly built some years ago for a Toy Fair display, has been used several times as an instructional aide in basic airbrushing classes, for applying a wash techneque to a subject. The third subject is a Ford GPA, this unique subject has two different mediums as a means of weathering. Firstly: The interior weathering appearence is created with Pastels, while the exterior is rubbed over with Artist Oils [Pewter is the colour], this tone of artist oil paint made a good rendition of exposed metal. The rust has yet to have been applied to this unfinished subject. Woodland Scienic make a range of products for train layouts that are suitable for weathering an AFV subject or even making a dio base. I have posted a thread on the rust making techneque in this section previously.
