I began this kit about 10 years ago, believe it or not. Seems I have a few of these old projects kicking around in my stash. I was actually going through trying to find a replacement wheel for my GTX when I ran across this car. I had forgotten this car even existed! I had painted the body Plum Crazy from a rattlecan all those years ago and with the exception of a few minor scuffs from being shuffled in the box, the paint has stood the test of time. I polished it up this morning and the pics below show the current state. This was the kit that was molded in purple, hence making the parts and subassemblies a bear to paint. I will most likely utilize white primer to cover the parts that I'm going to paint such as the engine. Black should cover the plastic with no problems and that's going to be the color of the interior. My plans for this car is a factory stock build but with plenty of detailing to enhance the overall appearance of the kit. Plug wiring, fuel lines, carb linkages and the like are in the plans for this car. It seems as though the old Mopars are slowly, but wuickly invading my model bench these days. I still have a couple more I would like to get working on as well, but I need to make some progress with the cars I currently have started. Anyways, here are a couple pics...

Hiya,
Sounds like you got a good plan going, I agree, a good coat of white primer will take care of getting it ready for whatever color you want to paint, I like the Tamiya Fine white primer, it hasn't "spit" on me yet, ....I have used box store auto paints and primers but the pigment seems to be a little rough for me, but...I have seen ppl here use canned auto spray paint to great effect. Anyway, can't wait to see the 'Cuda shape up, let us have some progress pix if u don't mind, I like the details you plan to install on/in it, I was a High school teenager when this car came out in RL (real life). It was really awesome, ha, along with every other muscle car that was being produced at the time, it was a really cool time to be a teenager, hehe. hope to see more on this subject, good luck and have FUN,
Bill

Thanks Bill for your words of encouragement. It amazes me when I see these old musclecars in 1:1 and see the window stickers for $4500 and the like that you could get such a brutal piece of horsepower for such a cheap price. But, I then have to keep in mind the cost was relative and back then it was a good chunk of change to come up with to enjoy the performance of these cars. I did realize I lost the rear splash pan though for this car, so there's already hitches coming up on this project, but I don't expect anything different to be honest. I guess that makes these build just that much more exciting and rewarding when they're finished. At the present time I have 3 Mopars on the bench in various stages of completion. My 70 T/A Challenger is starting to take shape now that I got a decent paint job on the body thanks to Wayne Farmer's generosity. I will be posting pics of my progress on that project as well. My 70 GTX is also starting to come together slowly and I am starting the engine wiring and plumbing this weekend on that as well. I definitely have a full schedule and am even contemplating breaking into one of my 69 Daytonas to build as well. I'll keep y'all posted on my progress though, for sure.
