Hi, I’m Weird Willie. I’m a north of L.A. Car Guy even though I’ve done some military and planes in the past but not to many. I also must admit to being a "kitbasher".
I started building model cars at the age of 11 in 1958. My first kit was Monogram’s '56 Ford convertible and I still have my original ‘58 Edsel convertible (promo kit) from back then.
Now I usually build Hot Rods, Customs, Racers, Tuners & Street Machines. My favorites are Woodies and Sedan Deliveries. I also have a growing collection of various scale diecasts.

Hi RC, I’ve stopped a couple of times to eat breakfast in Tehachapi while driving my big rig home to Barstow, CA back in ‘85 & ‘86. I was driving for Mayflower then until they drove me crazy so after only 13 months I quit and went back to doing Design Engineering. And you know something…I haven’t built a truck model at least not yet. Here are a couple of pics of my real truck. Enjoy My wife & I in front of the “Velvet Turtle” at Mother Mayflower in Indy back in the Summer of ‘85 This was taken at a rest area in northern Arizona in the Spring of ‘86

HeyWillie! Small world!! I was a bed bug'r for Bekins in Torrance Ca. 1971 thru 1974... broke my back lifting a Refer over a fence.. Had 4 dics removed from lower Back & fused.... Then Drove flat beds for Western tube & Conduit from 1976 to 1996 in Long beach Ca. I had a wreck in the truck.. Brand new 1996 Peterbuilt overhead cab, 3 axel with a Big Kitty purring unde the cab.....ha,ha....I ended up loosing my right leg in 1998....Now 10 years later retired and loving it in Tehachapi...Some time if your going thru Tehachapi again, give me a e-mail and we'll meet for coffee at Denny's off Mill street..Thats where you had breakfast?! Oh wait..1985/86? Maybe not at Dennys Probably Cattelman's then... That was a Small truck stop then... Thats how I came to live here too... If the Grapvine I-5 S/B was closed we had to go East on Hwy 58 thru Tehachapi to Mojave and South on Hwy-14 Back to I-5... I use to stop and eat here too at Cattelman's truck stop on Tehachapi blvd.. I fell in love with the small country town.. & finally Moved here 5 years ago... Where did you eat here?.. .. I take it you don't live in Barstow any more? You said you built your Tank for a model club in Ventura... You there in that area now?..So Much cooler than Barstow or Tehachapi.. ha,ha..That's only If your ever back in the Tehachapi area.. The coffee's on me! ............"RC"

Hi RC,
Talk about a small world..I’m retired too!! I moved from Barstow to Ventura after I left Mayflower in Sept ‘86. And now I’m getting ready to move to the Mother Lode area to a small town called Copperopolis which is about 45 miles do east of Stockton on Hwy 4. The place I stopped to eat in Tehachapi was a small café near the bowling but I don’t think it was Denny’s back then. I’ll take you on that cup of joe if I ever get back to Tehachapi but for sure it won’t be in a big rig ;D

Oh! Okay!... Next door to the Shell Station..It has a Model train in side cut into the wall going in a circle because of the "Loop"up here!.. The trains, as they come up or down the mountian from Bakersfield has to travel in a circle in the track to not have the steepness to great for them.. And the Engine passes over the last 1/3rd of its own cars in a Loop as it assends or dessends the mountian!.. Its one of the 7 wonders of the Train world and Train loving people and Modeler's come from all over the world to see the Famous "Loop".... The cafe has all booths which makes it hard to go to with a wheelchair because the chair is in the asile as people try to pass behind....Its also just down a little from K-Mart too, where I live next door too. ..Its like 5 mins ride in my power chair from my Apt..... You Moving North to Gold country to Pan? Maybe strike it Rich?.. ....... Okay coffee's on me. when ever ha.ha! ...."RC"

WOW !!! It sounds like things have really changed up there I think I’d have a better chance in hitting the lottery rather than striking it rich by panning for gold ;D Willie
