The paint job on the Impalla is like glass! And from your other models, it looks like you've mastered the art of smooth paint jobs!

72's make great lowriders. Just don't put on those huge wheels that are so popular.

These full sized Chevrolets are always being modified into a "low-ridder" or a "tunner" with the what I call "Steamboat Wheels". I like to be different then the crowd. You know, be an individual! (That one reason why I've been with Chrysler for over 27 years) So, why not do something that will suprise everyone who sees it? Rebuild it as you were going to, detail it some more, and do it factory stock. And, that way, it will never go "out of style" and retain it's value. FYI...I also like the color.

Thanks for the advice Chrysler, but it fell on deaf ears. I'm a Lowrider enthusiast, have been for about 15 years now. I don't think it will go out of style if I build it as a Lowrider, heck, Lowriders have been around since the '50s, and they are gaining acceptance around the globe, there is a huge Lowrider movement in Japan, and alot of other countries! If I wanted it to be stock, I'd just leave it like it is. Thanks again for the input!

I'm thinking about doing this one as a '70s style Lowrider. With some pin-striping and some Cragars with white walls.

FYI--That paint job is an MPC factory job. I have one of those 72 Impala's They came pre-painted in Metallic Blue. And the 73 in the background of the pics. Is another MPC factory paint job. Metallic Gold. I have this one too. I also have the 73 Merc. Cougar in Metallic Red Factory paint. The trick was that the model is cast in an appropriate color and painted with a clear metallic overcoat. many of the 72 and 73 kits from MPC were offered as pre-painted
AS tp how the pwner choses to rebuild the car-- That is his choice. But like others I prefer to restore these old out-of-production kits to factory specs rather than alter them.
we each have our own opinions

I also have a '72 Grand Prix kit that is pre-painted, and a few more of these that are factory sealed.

Ahhh... Brings me back (sort of). My first car was a 71 Impala 4 door. Same front end, different back. But, I swear that is the same color as my "Chimpala".
