I am trying to find a 1/24 scale belly tank to be transformed into a Bonneville Salt Flats racer. Anybody have any to spare or can direct me to a kit which may have what I am looking for? Thanks.

I know of a full resin kit with a flat head engine, vac-formed windshield and rubber like tires. It does not include decals. I think it sells for about $85. - Mark

Thanks for the reply, but if I were to spend that kind of money for a kit I would be sleeping with Fido for quite some time. Maybe I can find an airplane kit somewhere.

I hear ya. What you are looking for optimally is a P-38 drop tank. But there are no 1/24 scale kits that I know of. You might want to take a look in the toy section of your local stores. 20th Century Models has a line of 1/18 scale WWII planes, and you might be able to adapt from one of them. Of course the P-38 tank will be larger than 1/24, but maybe one of the single engine fighters has a smaller one...? Just a thought, and they are cheaper than the resin kit... - Mark

Try a Hobby shop that deals in RC airplanes. they should be able to provide you with a variaty of different sized Vacu-formed drop tanks.
