Hi Jim, How Sad! only 9 pic's to look at! Wow!.. I love the #3835 1:24th trailer too! I love the " Wolves"Pic' on the side.. makes me want to Howl Too! ha,ha.....Wonder where they use all the three axle trailers? Do you Guys have them in England?.. We don't have very many here in the States...Thats extra weight that could be cargo....97% of our 40' to 50' trailers are two axle...Some 45' footers have a 6' gap between the front and rear axle with a Strap box in the middle of them, the split axles makes for better weight distrubition.....But it's hard on the front axle tires making turns, and U-Turns, if possible the driver lifts the front tires with his air control valve.. When Empty, he Lifts the front axle tires Off the pavement all together for "Dead Heading" Home or to another location for another load or "Back Haul"...Saves ware on the front four tires.... I'm going to start looking for a Couple of the #6424's the German Tank Accessories kits.....I don't have those......

RC, Almost all our trailers are three axle over here. It`s because of weight regulations on many roads and bridges. They recken that it spreads the load on the road surface. As you say, a lot of them can raise the front axle when running empty. Jim

I do find it strange that you have Two axle tractors pulling Three axle trailers, Unless they pull very light loads.... Our Two axle tractors pull a set of Doubles, or a half set! 'One 24' or 27' trailer with one axle' because of where the King Pin is set on one axle trailers and where the 5th wheel is set on a two axle tractor... And Three axle Tractors for pulling One Trailer with two or three axles...With the three axle tractor having a "Sliding 5th wheel to shift weight on to or off the front steering axle (12,000 lb limit)(80,000 Gross)..Here in California..But! Some States Now have three axle Tractors pulling a three 27' trailer set Or Two 40' trailers..We do use a two axle tractor for pulling a 55' trailer though, because of length, But only for very light loads like empty plastic bottles, new cardboard box's or pillow's, Styrofoam ice chest's, etc..

RC, I`ve read your interesting post - but I`m not going to answer it for a couple of days. I`m going to keep my eyes open whilst out driving, to see that axels are pulling what. I`ll let you know LOL.

Whoooa... Ive been out of touch! It's been to long since Ive driven a big Truck!! I saw a Flat Bed Trailer yesterday, two axles, split 8' maybe 10' feet apart, with only Four Tires on the Two axles the Tires were as wide as Two tire's.... Almost looked like a Big Deep wheeled Racing Slick with deep grooves! ha,ha...Then 20 minutes later I saw the same set up on a "Refer Unit" too {Refrigerated trailer}... Like I said: I haven't drove a truck since my wreck in 1996, so I saw a few changes out there too....Even Trucks Passing the Scales, while the "All trucks Stop at Scales" Sign was On!... I talked to a trucker at the cafe I had lunch at, and he said: The company's can Pay and get a Pass Now, instead of sitting in lines, waiting to get weighed and or inspected...Company Trucks that only carry legal loads, and Highway Patrol Inspectors... Or what we called them:"The DOT Man".( 'Dept Of Transportation') come to their Company's on planned off work Inspection days and inspect the Tractor's and Trucks, etc.. And issue the Month's Color inspection stamps and paste them on the Passengers windshield at the bottom right corner.....Humm? All new stuff to me too now...... I have to get out more often!! ha,ha...

Hi All, As this thread has `strayed` into big truck territory, I`m going to post my answer under `Super singles` in that section. Hope that` OK with everyone. Jim.
