Sean,
Painted masking tape will do the trick for the gun port coverings, Hunbrol Brick Red would be the one to use on this or even the Orange # 132 with a little red added.

Darren,
The Invsithread is heat shrinkable, though I've never tried doing it that way, it's about 40 thou in thickness and about 60 metres to the spool, it is available in Black or Smoke. CA glue will hold it in place.

If your wingtip light fills, or almost fills, the quadrant, lightly drill into it, from the back, a little way. Touch it in, with a small amount of paint, and it will look, for all the world, like a coloured bulb.

Sean,
Sounds like the wingtip nav lights are what Edgar is refering to on this, also the main landing light on wing leading edge has a controlled movement angle, for the main light beam and I think this was included in the pix I sent you.
The Eagle Stirke decals look ok, check on the Hannants site for the Sqn Code letters for 32 scale birds in Sea Grey.

To return to those wingtip lights, I know this has nothing to do with your Malta project, but, if you build an Intruder Mosquito, with the two "navigation" lights, in each wingtip, don't colour all four lights. The rear bulbs were Infra Red, giving off virtually no light at all. The pilots were always complaining that they didn't work, properly. They were told that they were "resin" lamps, a meaningless, totally fictitious, name. If they'd known, someone, after capture, would have spilt the beans; they were used for recognition purposes, by a following nightfighter, using I.R. equipment. The bulbs showed up like mini beacons, ensuring that they were not mistaken for He219s, Me210s, or 410s, and shot down. This is still not, generally, known.

Sean,
Excellent progress so far, {If I may point out}, there is one thing that stands out before anything else, the demarcation line on the horizontal tailplanes, [the seperation of the upper and lower camo patern], needs a little touch up to reduce the line of the lower cam colour.
The wing landing lights area should be blacked out showing only the light lens, I'll go threw my Hurricane stuff and find the details on these for you.

Sean, These are the pix that I have that cover the wing of the Hurricane, which show the landing lights as well as the wing tip navigation lights. These should clarify the issue in the modelling sense.
