Guess who got the new Wallis & Gromit Van from Airfix?
The kit of the van is approximately 1:9 scale as was the motorcycle combo. Remarkable likeness to the Austin A35, unfortunately it looks as though Airfix have not been able to get the authorization to use the Austin logo, but hey ... who cares? 76 parts for the van, opening doors and rear door, lots of possibilities for conversion ... the huge box of bits include new Wallace & Gromit figures and of course ... a rabbit. Airfix have done well with this one and even included the paint, paintbrush and glue, I know several kids (big ones and small ones) who would like this kit in their christmas stocking. I got mine for just over £11.00, (thanks Ian), apparently, retail will be about £16.00, go on, go out and buy it! ... if you can get one?
Look out for a conversion from me at a show near you in the UK next year ! ... too late to kitbash for Telford but the winter is coming and the heater is on in the workshop!
CHALLENGE !!! ...
Let's have a Van build off and meet at one of the shows next year for a fun showdown and competition? ... any suggestions for a venue? ... or could we make it a forum build? ... photos to appear on this forum or the airfix web site? ... got to talk to Trevor Snowdon about that one!
Well Done Airfix ...

Just posted the following details of the 'Were Rabbit' GB on the IPMS/UK Forum. Should anyone on this Forum wish to take part, the more the merrier!
Obviously, anyone in the USA or other parts of the world wishing to take part in this GB and not visiting the IPMS/UK Nationals in 2006 may be at a slight disadvantage, so, I propose to place all the finished models on a web page, more of that later ... here's the details ...
OK you lot ... here it is ...
Group Build of the A35 Van from the film 'Curse of the Were-Rabbit', starring our old mates Wallis and Gromit. I thought about various classes for the build, but why complicate things?
The rules ... there have to be rules!
(1) Starting date for the build is December 25th 2005, well, once you've opened the kit, you got to build it?
(2) The model must be your own work.
(3) You may enter as many variations of the kit as you wish.
(4) The van to be built OTHER than box stock, the more outrageous the better.
(5) The Wallis & Gromit figures MUST be used, however, you may alter them in any way you choose.
(6) Prizes? ... non as yet!
That's it! ... nice and simple. You may have noticed that I have not placed a finish date on the build. Well, hopefully, there will be a dedicated table at SMW 2006 to show your efforts, (depending on number of entries), provisionally, Richard Middleton has given permission for us to use the Car & Motorcycle SIG table.
Registration ... I need to know who is taking part in the group build, so, I need the following from each entrant ...
Name, IPMS membership number, email address, and what you intend to do to the kit. Just to start you off, my particular conversion will be going back to the future! ...
I will post occasionally on this forum with details of who is building what, that way, we should get a reasonable variation on the theme. John Tapsell has intimated that he would like to place a small piece in the magazine to publicize the build ... more on that later.
So, enjoy the build and I look forward to seeing some amazing conversion
