Here's a Gakken 1/16 Hispano Suiza 15T widely credited by historians as the worlds first real sports car. They were built from 1910-26 with various body options - this one is 1919. This is a rather clumsy kit with brown plastic 'wood' which I've replaced with mahogany sheet. I also replaced the wheel spokes with wire taken from freezer bag twist ties and put a piano hinge on the bonnet (hood). The seats are leather. These things would do 70mph which must have been pretty scary considering the roads were unmade and they only had drum brakes on the rear!!!

stunning model, i can relate to what it must have felt like doing 70 in that this with only drum brakes on the rear, i once coaxed my landrover up to that speed and it weighs in at 2 tons and has drum brakes all round!!!, it stops about as well as the titanic (turns and leaks like it too ). great build mate, Greg

Very impressive. There is a lot of attention to detail here. I don't have the patience to redo the spokes on the wheels. My hats off to you sir. Bravo and three cheers.
