#3 was the most extensively modified of the 3 due to the addition of the Springer front end. The Springer was built up from aluminum tubing and styrene plastic. The springs were made from copper armature wire wound around a mandrel made from wood dowel. The lower end was pinned together using brass wire. The handlebars were made from brass tubing filled with aluminum wire to prevent the tubing from kinking when bent. The parts were chromed using Alclad Polished Aluminum, which comes up brighter, and actually looks more like chrome than the Alclad Chrome.
Due to the drastic reduction in the rake, the frame was cut at the neck and a wedge removed. The sections were glued back together and the neck re-contoured. The gas tank was reshaped by adding ribs made from .015 styrene to the top and sides, then filled with Bondo and carved to the final shape. The rear fender was laid up in fiberglass using the mold master from #2, though clipped a bit shorter to remove the original flair. The seat was carved from "Butter Board", which is essentially a block of cured Bondo. The stuff is easy to carve and sands beautifully, and is the best I've found for this type of thing. It also works great as a mold master for vac-formed parts.
The paint work was done using a white base coat and Boyd Purple. The wood grain was base coated with Dark Tan and the grain Dry Brushed using Model Master Rust. A couple of Testers Gloss Clear coats top it off.
