............... through the talents of Roger Keltz at Competition Resins (body), Ross Gibson (engine), Keven Ellis (decals), Leon Tefft (Arctic White lacquer), and AMT for the chassis, I was able to recreate this little beast ............ the Rastetter Automotive '32 Austin Bantam A/A ................ a vehicle which I had the pleasure of owning and racing from 1974 through 1979. The engine was a Hilborn injected 484 cu. in. stage II Hemi ...... that was backed up by a B&M Clutchflite and a 9" Ford rear end with 4.88:1 gears ............. the best times I had with the car were an 8.23 at Dallas International Motor Speedway and a speed of 172.41 at Riverside Raceway ........... man I loved Riverside because you could drive it out the back door and still have enough room to get it stopped without having to use the chute Oh well, enough bench racing ............. hope you enjoy

Its Sad Old Coyote that we lost the Riverside Raceway!! I Delivered over 30 loads of Galvanized electric conduit to the New Mall thats there now in in its place in Morono Valley, where the Riverside raceway Was!.... Now days they have a Newer, maybe 11 years old now, Raceway in Cucamonga..... Sad too we lost the Ontario 500 Raceway around two years later and Its now the Biggest Mall in California!.... It takes Two Days to see every shop in there! It was across the freeway from the Ontario 500 Truck Stop.... .. And we still have the Pomona Raceway next to the Pomona fair Grounds.. I was born in Pomona and raised in Upland & Ontairo.... My Grandfather owned the property where the Ontario Airport is on now.. He had a 500 Acre Wine Grape Vineyard, raised wine Grapes raised his kids and when grand ma died, he sold out to Brookside Winery in the early 50's....Married his House Keeper and They took all the money and moved to Petaluma California above San Franciso... He took all this money with him.. His New Wife, after Grandpa died, got all his money! Not Us! ha,ha...

Hi, I`d like to add my appreciation for a terrific model too. The `Austin ` name caught my eye and I wondered if there was any connection to the `Austin Motor Company`, that was based in Birmingham England. Hope you stay around - your skills will be well received on this forum Jim.

Yes sir ............ these little "American Bantams" were built under license from the Austin Motor Company in England ........ about the only thing that was changed was to move to driver's position to the left side ........... and they make excellent race cars too ;D ;D ;D

"RC" ............. yes sir, it is a shame that you lost both those marvelous tracks (and Lions and OCIR also) ........... I remember towing out to Beaumont (if my memory hasn't failed me) and jumping off on Hwy 60 to get over to the race track ............ I also remember racing at Ontario .............. we used the pit lane on the oval for a drag strip ........... OMS was huge .............. it's a wonder that they haven't "legislated" Pomona out of existance also ........... but I guess being on the "fairgrounds" has helped save it ............ can remember racing there also ............ we also ran at Lions, Orange County, Irwindale, Inyokern, Half Moon Bay, and Bakersfield .......... we would try to tow out to California as often as we could ............ So. Cal was the Mecca of drag racing ............ ahhh, those were the days
