Any body here working on Trumpeter's new ALF Eagle?? I just bought one. I like it. But I do have two questions. Why are the Mirror faces and the Federal 'Q' siren face on the clear tree? I can't wait to start on this kit. I am surprised to see Foam re-inforcements for the tires. (They must be VERY soft to need that) The Hose bed dividers are photo-etched pieces. All light lenses are clear.

Hi, Dnlgtr...What is a Alf Eagle? a fire truck of some kind?...I am surprised to see Foam re-inforcements for the tires. (They must be VERY soft to need that) The Hose bed dividers are photo-etched pieces. All light lenses are clear. Why are the Mirror faces and the Federal 'Q' siren face on the clear tree? With Hose bed dividers and a 'Q' siren face and all light lenses are clear its got to be something in a fire truck or SUV 4X4 Jeep type vehicle huh?.... I like the soft rubber tires, maybe to be able to show weight on them? Or a flat tire ?.... Please, tell what it is okay? Thanks in advance "RC"

No, I'm sorry I didn't know what it was, I don't build fire trucks, but I do have a Revell Unimog RW1, 1:24th scale Emergency 4x4 off road Mercedes-Benz diesel thats been sitting on top of my work table that Ive been itching to open and build...look's like it's going to be fun .....
Have fun and keep us posted how your doing.. Down at the bottom of our forum here, theres a post on sending pic's to the Forum site.. it might help you to be able to send us some shots of it as your building it.. I hope it helps you if it don't ask the guys they can talk you through it.....Thanks "RC.....

I would like to post pictures. But ...1. I am not too sure how. 2. I don't have a digital camera. 3. I have mis-placed my good 35mm Advantix camera. 4. I am on dial-up so I have to consider the time it will take to up-load
I hope to be able to get some good pictures. But I will have to pick out only a few pic.

This is the one in question: Here is a shot of the contents: Heres my build up so far: The first pic is Aluminum Paint on the control panel without details painted yet. The second pic shows the chassis and pump unit assembled. There is a fit problem with the pump unit and driveshafts. when in place one wants to pop the other out. As for the foam tire inserts if you dont use them then the tires will not stay on the rims. As for the mirror parts on the clear tree I think its because the actural mirror is glass and they didn't think about the reflective (chrome look) when produced. My opinion just a fluk.

Hi Todd Thanks for showing the box art and what your doing... The tires won't stay on the rims without the inserts? ....I'm thinking he could paint the backs of the clear mirror faces with chrome and insert them into the mirror frame's while still wet to 'glue' it ?...... Please keep us posted with yours...That looks like a fun build...I'll be watching for it posted here...I'd like to see it as its coming along....All that detail on a fire engine will be fun to bring to life..... Thanks for the come back........"RC"

I was thinking for mine whenever I get that far on it is to Bare Metal Foil my mirror glass. Atleast it will have a shine like a mirror. Yes the tire (foam) inserts need to be used due to th design of the rims. The foam is what acturally makes the contact with the rim. The tires are of nice detail and do have a thin side wall. RC you forgot to mention that the batteries die to fast for your camera and you haven't found anyone that makes DIEHARD camera batteries. lol

Dnldgr has said in another post that he don't have any BMF and his LHS don't carry it! Thats why I said: paint it chrome and stick in in the frame before it drys to glue it in the frame... Yea....Thats a good one too! "Battery's die to fast and they don't make Diehard camera battery's for my camera!" ha,ha.. Another good excuse to use...Thanks ...."RC"..

I think when I get to that part I am going to replace the clear mirror faces with sheet styrene and foil the.. I can get some of the area hobby shops to custom order for me. I just have to pay full price(No sale price or other discount). Or if I'm lucky I can pay my sister to order from a discount dealer on-line.(she has the credit card)
Maybe I will try to use Aluminun sheet and just polish it to a shine!
here is a good reference page for this kit: http://www.cpvfd.org./
This is the College Park Md. Volunteer Fire Department's home page.
This is the engine the kit is based on!! Just clock on the engine above the list on the left. Yes the one this kit is modeled after!
