Effective 15 July, 2006, the Adirondack Modelers Mafia scale model club will be shutting down as a 1:1 model club. The website and message forums will, however, remain online and operational, however the names will be changing and the club title will be removed and will no longer be utilized in any form, for ANY model club or organization.
To say I am saddened and disappointed is an understatement. After working for well over a year to establish this club and make it a success, it is painfully obvious the desire just does not exist to have a scale model club in the Upstate New York area. What started as an automotive based club was eventually expanded to include all forms of scale modeling in the hopes of generating more interest and participation. Unfortunately, that has not happened and the interest in the 1:1 club has declined even more. At this point in time, there is no other realistic alternative but to disband the club and go to a strictly internet format, which is what is happening as we speak.
There will be several obvious changes made to this site as well in the coming days to reflect the changes being made, including the removal of the name and banner and a new name being chosen. I encourage all hobbyists to continue to utilize the message forums as well as visit the website and participate in the upcoming features being planned. With the demise of the 1:1 scale model club, I can concentrate more of my efforts on the internet club and press forward with ideas and suggestions that have been made over the past year. Stay tuned as the site undergoes a complete makeover, and don't be afraid to make suggestions and share your ideas.
