While visiting our FSM Brother forum today I saw this about Wood grain floors and Sidings...Check it out! Sounds good to me..If I can make the side rails on my old Mack Dump truck look better than it is now! Its lake Castrol swimming time for them!...."RC"

Tip: I recently experimented with Minwax Wood Finish Stain Markers. I painted the wood grain of the casket trailer that comes with the AMT/Ertl “Vampire Van” and got very good results. I painted it with the marker, then took a wide brush and smoothed the stain across the wood grain of the casket.

After allowing it to dry for about 15 minutes, I applying another coat, which dried to such a high sheen that I didn’t need a gloss coat. The best part is it didn’t harm the plastic.

Minwax makes several different stain colors that I’m sure would come in handy for any modeler trying to duplicate a wood finish. Give it a try!

RC. Sounds a great idea to me. Straight away I can see all the panels in my Volvo VN sleeper done with it. However, it just HAS to be a thing for the future. I`ve got so many `things on the stove ` at the moment that adding anything else would be madness. Jim

Yes I know all about the "Madness" too....ha,ha... I printed the Tip for my files and passed it on here at our forum...I have a wooden Dash, floor and side rails on my 1926 Mack Dump truck that I didn't know how I was going to get the wood grain to show if I painted them...I think this is the answer to my quest for showing the wood grain..
I'll try it soon as I get back from my Youngest Son's Gradation from the Sheriff's academy in Northern Nevada next friday....Things are hectic around here preparing for the road trip, Checking out the Pick up truck at the Dodge Dealer and filling that 38 gal fuel tank with diesel fuel that is selling this week for $3.30 a gallon... It will be an expensive trip as its a 7 hour drive from my country home here in the high Desert in California to his town up in the high mountains of Nevada, half way between Reno and Las Vegas... I'll be gone a few days visiting both Son's, the oldest lives in and is going to be there too, from Las Vegas Nevada..He works security at a big Casino there..
Its funny, both Boys work catching the Bad guys to put in Jail! my Daughter and Son-in-law own and run a Bail bonds company.. She bails them out of jail!....... "RC"

RC Have a great trip. Hope all goes well. If you think the fuel is going to be expensive - you should live here in the UK. At present diesel is about £1.02 per litre (that`s £4.59 per gallon). At the current exchange rate that`s about $8.56 per gallon!!!!!
