Hi, I`ve just completed the chassis of my Revell Merc fire tender. (photos to follow). 95% of my trucks are Italeri (thank goodness). Why Oh why do Revell take short cuts, like only having half an exhaust box - just because you can`t see the top of it, because it`s hidden by the body? I thought the whole idea of scale models was to make them as real as possible. Perhaps it`s just me, but I feel let down and don`t feel that the model is complete. I know RC has said similar things, althogh I can`t remember which manufacturer he was complaining about. Jim

Opp's..Sorry Jim! Its"Italeri"..... My M-977 air tanks had to be filled with Putty too....I agree with You! We pay this much money! It should be a Complete Model, No short cuts....So is my M-978 ha,ha.. Have to fill the air tank on it too.. I received my Revell 2006 Catalog today and don't know if this is your Model or not, the one their showing is the 1/24 scale "Turntable Ladder" Mercedes-Benz With the Feuerwehr spelled back wards on the front of the overhead cab..You had said it was a Mercedes-Benz so I know its not that Peterbuilt Fire Truck....in 1:25scale....And Not the 1:24th Mercedes-Benz 230G fire Brigade jeep looking vehicle...Sad.. They only have three fire Rigs here in the whole Catalog...

Hi RC, Now there`s a supprise LOL. I have to admit that it hasn`t happened to me with Italeri yet. The fire truck isn`t the ladder one (although I`ve bid on that a couple of times on eBay). When I do the photos today of the completed chassis, I`ll add one of the box-top too. Jim

Hiya Jim, ;D
I don't know from grapes about this kind of subject but..it sho' do looks good from what I can see!! Do the front wheels turn? if not how do u set them in a turned direction? is it possible? Looking at yours and RCs' trucks, and the car guys builds is making me want to start on a few wheeled vehicles so thought I would ask. Anyway I think your drive train (right term??) looks really good, just to pick out something that hit my eye.
Hope to see more and have FUN, Bill

Yea, Jim, Do those front wheels turn left or right too? Cool if they do, looks like a king pin of sorts to do just that in the axle housing...Love the frame and color of your engine..... Okay I see the picture is the same truck as in my catalog, but different Body..... I like the detail in this one... Its got alot more than the Turntable Ladder has....Okay Can't wait to see the final finish on this one....Hope your done for next MOM Huh?? Looking good so far....Hard to believe that the Catalog would only show three Fire Rigs and not all of them....

WOW!! There really is a huge difference isn't there? Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, really nothing I can say except I know to start looking at Italeri for wheeled vehicles... whenever I get good enough to build one. As I try to learn how to build plastic models and look at what the car, plane, and truck guys put out...heck, every subject, I feel the need to expand out and try 'em all, and obviously it helps to know which company to buy from, now I know that Italeri is the one to get a fine looking "wheeled" vehicle. Thanks for the pix and the explanations, you do outstanding work!! ;D

Hi Guys, Just a quick update on the fire truck. I think `update` is the wrong word to use - because the build is going BACKWARDS!!!! It`s the first time in years that I`ve put a model down in disgust and walked away from it. This Revell cab is a diabolical fit and it`s the closest I`ve come to throwing one against the wall. However, having had a few days to cool off, I`m going to give it another go this afternoon and see if I can beat it. I must say though that the idea of the doors opening is a very good one (Italleri don`t do that - I wish they did). Anyway -we`ll see what happens later today. Jim
