I had that problem with a sheet of Gold. The Problem could have been age.If the foil sits on the shelf for too long the adhesive gives up and gets weak. They sell adhesive to help with the problem. The local Hobby shops in my area don't carry it often. One has 2 Copper sheets, But I am worried about buying them. They have been there as long as I have been going to that store(age). I would have to have the separate Adhesive before I try it.

The stuff is useless, I don't even think it looks much like Chrome when it does stick (never). Hey Weeg, BMF is used for chrome trim on model cars.

I have used one sheet of Ultra Chrome from BMF. I did not have the problem with the foil not sticking. ( only the gold) And to my eye I think it does a good job of replicating New or refurbished chrome on 50's & 60's cars. Again You might want to keep a bottle of BMF's adhesive on hand for the problem. I know when I can get some I will have it ready to use at ALL times.

EXPERTS-CHOICE™ PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE Our pressure sensitive adhesive will glue items in place with a small amount of pressure. Some suggested uses for this glue are landscaping items for dioramas, sticking paper materials in place, or [glow=red,2,300]adding extra tack to Bare-Metal Foil[/glow]. The nice thing about this glue is that you can put it on a series of items, allow the glue to set, and then put them in place. 086 EXPERTS-CHOICE PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE $3.50 ................ I have seen Model Railroaders use it for the polished stainless Steel of passenger Cars. And both Automotive and Military modekers use it for fine line paint masking. Expensive masking, But being so thin it does leave an almost unnoticable buildup at the separation line.

"Expensive masking".... No.....Think of it as another tool in your modeling tool box.. You get what you pay for..Expencive tools = Great looking models...

Since I don't have any right now, And no are hobby shop has it in stock, and I DON'T have a credit card!!!! I say that when I have it I can't afford to use it for masking. I have Testor's Parafilm.
Besides I have TOO many projects in need of Chrome.
2 '63 Fords, 1 each: '60, '61,'62,'64,'66,Fords. 7! '59 Fords 3 '57's 1ea. '61,'62,'65 &'66 T-Birds 4 '57 Fords. 2ea. '61, '62,& '65, 3 '64, 1 '63 Impala SS. 1 '59 Impala. 2 '51, '55/6/7 Nomads & Belair's, '55 /7 Cameo's. '59 Cadillac. '55,'59,'60,'62,'64,'67,'69(2),'78,'79,'81(?), '86,'95,'98 Indy Pace cars Plus several Fire and Police units. And that is just a Partial list. If I had 20!! sheets of Bare Metal I would NOT have enough to be able to use it for masking.

Your right! You sure do have a lot of projects going and it would be to expensive to waste that foil on masking!! I use testers para film too.. I build Amour & trucks..I didn't mean to use the foil for masking all the time, but that it's only another tool in our tool box ......I'm sure you have stuff in your tool box that some would say was expensive too... Do you do Armor too? have fun....."RC"
