What, you may ask, does an ARMY OV-1 hafta do with the Marines? How about many hours on the flightline in beautiful downtown Phu Bai walking my post in a military manner (i.e. schlepping along with a 12 gauge slung over my shoulder). One thing a Marine of less-than-staff rank can depend on is Guard Duty, and I seemed to draw the duty more ofter than chance alone would have predicted. I also seemed to draw the Army end of the airfield with great frequency. Actually grew rather fond of flying things painted dog s*** brown. Be that as it may ... this is the Roden 1/48 OV-1/JOV-1 built OOB. The scheme is for one of the first examples sent to Viet Nam for operational trials, before the hi-viz markings became more subdued. They may be ugly but, well, they sure are ugly. Phil "Silverback" Schenfeld

Great job. I used to do a lot of work around Ft. Campbell, KY back in the 70's and got to see a lot of them playing around with the helos. They are distinctive ;d
