Hello Lads,
Its all been happening in my workshop today, I've put my Spitfire Mk.Vb together and given it its first coat of paint, then I opened up an Airfix Seafire L.III, its half old/half new tooling and the fit is......terrible! Never mind, its all part of the fun of modelling. Somehow, I've managed to make the bits fit, will start filling & sanding tomorrow.
Feeling inspired, I returned to my Italieri F-14 and got a lot of work done there too. Its now weathered/glossed and ready for decals and the landing gear is installed. I made a display base for it as well, I hope to have this one finished by the end of the week.
See you later,
Darren.

Darren,
The old/new Airfix Seafire III, the assembly fit is similar to the fit of the ICM kit, we did one of these for a Toy Fair display when the kit first came out, their 2 stage Mossie kit is the same practice of old against new bits.
The Spitfire Vb would be interesting to see how yours come up. I have just completed the resin Vc wing conversion for the Tamiya 48 scale Vb Trop kit {5 months later than the planned release date}, the F-14 will be anticipated to see completed.

I'd like to see that Vc verion as I've toyed with the idea of coverting the Tamiya "b" int a "c" for quite a while now.(I have some nice decals for such a build) The Airfix I'm on now has the parts for building a "c" version but I think I'd end up with a better kit if I took the conversion route. When I get some more done, (hopefully today) I'll put some pictures up.
See you later,
Darren.

I'll post some pix to you of the unassembled kit and resin conversion, there are very few Oz Vc Spit decals and I've seen some intesting South Africain aircraft decals for Nth Africa.

I'll look forward to having a nosey at that one. I got some more work done today, decals are now on my F-14, and I've painted the camo on the upper sides of my Spitfire Vb. I will try post some pics later, at the minute my son is keeping me busy!
See you later,
Darren.

Hello again! Well, as promised here are some photo's of my progress (if I can get away with calling it that!) First up, my Italieri F-14. It is now wearing VF-33 Sqn markings and all the sticky-out bits are now attached. I need to add some mods to the cockpit, do some detail painting/decals and spray some gloss seal and satin seal varnish then it should be done. Next, my Tamiya Spitfire Vb for the Malta GB, I've just taken the latex mask off and will tidy up the camo edges tomorrow and then paint the under surfaces. Lastly my Airfix Seafire L.III, I have completely re-scribed the fuselage, (a new thing for me) and attched it to the new tool wing. The fit is not good and I still need to fill/sand a few bits before this one sees any paint. When this one is finished, I will donate it to the local RNAS society. The former station is located in my village and they now have their own monument and exibit at RAF Mallom. Here's the pics:

Darren,
Excellent F-14 Tomcat, the cammo on the Spit is looking good, the build of the Airfix is comming along nicely.
I'll get the pix of the Vc resin conversion post in the next day or so, for all to see.

Thanks Rob, I'll try and get the Tomcat finished today if time allows and make some more progress on the other two builds.

No photo's tonight, but I have put the last varnish over the model. So when everything is dry I shall finish it and post pics.
See you tomorrow,
