Hi folks, as promised here is my latest straight off the workbench: 1/48 Italieri F-14A VF-33 "Starfighters" I added a few improvements to this kit, these were: Buner cans from a Hasegawa kit, Eagle Strike decals (very good BTW.) and some garden wire to make the grab handles for the bang seats. The office in this kit is sparse to say the least, hence why this one has its cockpit closed. Considering I only paid £17.00 for everything used, I'd say its a nice cheaper alternative to the Hasegawa kit. (of which I have 5 waiting to be built.) So what do you think? Good, bad or ugly? Let me know. Happy modelling! Darren.

Thanks Sean, a Tomcat in RAF markings? Now theres an idea for a "what if" project. There was talk many years ago of the RAF leasing F-15A's from the USA, instead we ended up with the EF-2000. (Should have been in service years ago) Now imagine what the RN would be like if they had F-14's? I think that would have been a cool thing to see.

Darren, I think it looks great. I'm not a big fan of "Dirty" planes but Tomcats just don't look right any other way. I think that yours has enough to look good yet not be over done. Real good job on it.

Darren,
Excellent build, I'd agree about the {lack of} detail with some Italeri kits.

Thanks Rob, I guess I could have spuced it up, but I wanted to save that for one of my Hasegawa Tomcats. I guess with Italieri you are getting a kit at a fraction of the cost of the Hase version-so its still good value for money.

Very nice build Darren! I must say that the more I look at everyone's airplanes, the more I want to get into doing one or two for a break from the treads! Builders like you always scared me away from aircraft cause I know that you are all perfectionists!!! anyway, awsome build, really inspiring!

Thanks! I'm no perfectionist, I just built wingy thingys cause I like 'em! Maybe we can convert you into aircraft building after all......? Anytime you need a hand, we're all here to help.
