Gun Truck Wild Thing

Here are some photos of the gun truck Wild Thing. This truck was assigned to the 815th Engineers Co of the 159 Group. The first photo is of the original truck in Nam and the others are of the full scale replica of the truck today. This truck will be on display at Ft. Eustis Va. Transportation Museum in June from the 13 to the 18 of June. There will be at least four other gun trucks from the Nam era along with some from the OIF 2003. The rest of the photos are of the model that I am building from the photos that I have.













This truck had a very neat exhaust pipe on it. It came out under the passenger side running board and had three exhausts exits.

Charles on the full scale replica the crew took some poetic license and "dressed up the truck a lot more than it was back in Nam. I plan to build my version closer to the original version.

Here are some more pics of the in progress work. The truck is almost finished sans the graphics and weathering. The armored gun box is coming along nicely also. I got the ammo cans and weapons in place. I still have the radio and odds and ends to make and install. I hope that you like it so far. One of the unique things about this truck is that the side walls were filled with dry sand and capped over with concrete to seal the sand.

Dave may I ask where you got the gatling gun?

The XM 134 mini gun is from Legends. You can purchase them through Great Models or some of the companies in Europe or China.
