Started this vehicle a few days ago. The base is a Revell Oshkosh M977. I use a few conversion sets, one from Hobby Fan and three from Pro Art models and a PE set from Eduard. Also there is some scratch build to do and A added a engine in it, I know its not the correct one but you can barley seen this when everything is on place. O yes its a 1/24 Nascar engine, just wondering if its now the fastest HEMMT in the world ;D   Just a test fit, I`m curious how its going to look.    |

Hi Ron...Your "Recovery Site" is Great! Beautiful Builds, I'm working on the Italeri Oshkosh M-977 now too..Love the Revell M-977 your doing, there's so much more detail than mine!!Unless your scratch building as you go along too... I see your using a Gas 1:24th scale engine, Yea I do think yours will be the fastest LOL..I like the idea about cutting the engine compartment side cover to show the engine.....The Oshkosh M-977 engine is a 12 liter, 445 HP Diesel Engine, V-8 and I don't see that it would be that much difference in the engine's size except for the wiring to the Spark plugs!.. ha,ha.. (I'm joking) Have you seen Charles Scratch built Tractor using the Oshkosh front end and scratch building a trailer for it, it won the Military MOM before this last one that Crockett won.....He has the whole engine compartment fully plummed.....Check Charles site for his, but he called it another name because its now a tractor not a truck...
I'll be paying close attention to you, I hope you don't mind my copying some of your idea's...Or saving your picture's for reference as I'm doing mine?! I'll be using your's as a Tutorial for mine!
I have the Oshkosh M-978 Fuel Tanker too, so I'm really taking notes as to how your's is coming along!....

HI "RC" thank you for visiting my site. I have seen Charles scratch build engine a really master piece. About the engine, I did almost placed spark plugs and wires and then I saw the light and remember that diesel engines don't have them  Its not a really good engine looking at some pic`s of the real engine, but in place with that large air filter? and exhaust system you don't see to much of it ;D Maybe I put some more cables and hoses to it? Hey Ron?!! You going to show anymore pictures of the HEMTT 977?....Please?
Or give me some advice on making the wheels turning left? I could sure use your or anyones help on this one because of the Ball Joints...Where and how to cut so all four wheels are turning the same.... Help?!

Hey it worked!! I cut my M-978 fuel tankers axles about 30` from where the axle hooks into the Ball Joint and cut it 95% through then closed the gap and cut it again with my Razor Saw, then bent the axle into the ball joint glued with Instant glue after cutting all four axles the same way....After the ball joint had dried I used the white glue to fill the joints where the gap is making the ends of the axles turning left..They all came out the same turn now I need to cut the tie rod 's and fit them together .. I do think I can still cut the M-977's axles too even though their hooked to the frame and springs.....

Yess a update ;D This time I have done some work on the interior, I have used some resin parts and some PE (photo etch) from Eduart, now I have only made some grab handles and some cables. Ron The Netherlands    |
