Here is the beginning of the Diorama to honor Sgt. William Seay. He received the Congressional Medal of Honor for actions in August 1968 during which his convoy came under extremely heavy fire in the Rubber Plantation outside Tay Ninh.

Excuse the old table cloth. I have to build this one on the dinning room table. It is too big for my work bench. The Boss (wife) made me cover the table with the old cloth. :lol:

The Dio is 44 1/4 inches long by 22 1/2 inches wide. It will depict the convoy of munitions and food supplies coming from Long Binh and going to Tay Ninh. I was very lucky this day as I left the convoy with my truck at Cu Chi base camp (25th Inf Div). The convoy was hit about another 35 Clicks west of Cu Chi. It happened in an area where we could not support them with Artillery and the weather was so bad that it was impossible to support the convoy with air cover. This was one of the longest lasting ambushes that our Transportation Corp Drivers endured. We lost a lot of good men that Day. But because of the heroic action of Sgt. Seay a lot more of the men are here today to keep his memory alive. I have wanted to do this Dio for a long time and I was very honored when the Museum ask me to build it.

Here is some more in progress shots. I think I will be changing some of the foliage out. I don't like the tall elephant grass. Or I might just cut it down a little. Need some opinions from some of you Diorama guys.

This one is almost done. I have to give the entire Dio a flat coat of clear. and dusting. The white puddles in the road are just that. The white glue and water mixture is not dry yet. When it is it will be clear and show the dirt under it like a mud puddle. Sorry for the lousy photos. My Asian son will be coming over to take good photos with his camera this week. I will be glad to be done with these projects. It will mean a nice vacation away from the building.

Hi Dave... This came out beautiful..Your figures are super, you've got them down pat now.....No longer your, as you said: weakest point anymore!....The paint job's perfect on them and the trucks! The diorama looks Museum ready and perfect..There's so much action you've even got Charley in there too? Your figures are so real looking as their running for cover and shooting! It's incredible how realistic ... So real..But with you being there at the time.. You of all people know how its should look...
I was really was lucky to have been in and already discharged when this war broke out for us to be in it...We were just advisor's at the time I was in from 1956 through 1959... I was stationed in Germany....Only fighting I did was over the the barmaids .....You'r friends will love this forsure...
