jeez, all your builds are looking fantastic, looks like i'll have to get a move on. there hasn't been much progress here (due to a bad case of modeling block. so bad that even buying about 15 kits in the past 6 weeks (bad boy that i am :-) ) hasn't cured it, i think i went a bit nuts, have gotten 4 airfix lancs (£45 for the lot), a d-day set (for £20) airfix halifax and sterling 2 airfix chipmunks and various others. hmmmmm, must get a move on.
all the best.

G'day, The Vb is finished and the pic is not trick photography, the model is actually on a mirror so the undersurface can be seen. NOTE:- the kit rear view mirror mounted on the windscreen, to make this realistic I mounted a piece of silver glitter to the plastic part face. The weathering is pastels and the panel lines are highlighted with lead pencil.

Excellent work Rob, what paints did you use for the camo? It looks very authentic. I've tried using a pencil for highlighting panel lines before and could'nt get it right, you have obviously mastered the technique as it looks very good. How do you do the paint chips around the panels? I find it difficult with paint to get the right "look". I'd be interested to see how you do yours.
Regards,
Darren.

Thanks Darren,
The cammo was from the Humbrol Authentic paint range of enamels, which are currently under standard satin paint tin numbers -{these are 123 for the Dark Sea Grey, 195 for the Dark Green and 196 for the Light Aircraft Grey}.
The pencil for the panel lines is 0.05mm tech pencil, which will sit in the panel line, the silvering around the ammunition magazine hatches is done by using a silver {square} pastel stick, sadly when I fitted the prop to the model I split the seem on the cowling {a minor repair job for later}.
I've hounded junor to help on the photography side for the postings of Pt 2 of the articles, on weathering, which I've been waiting for a few weeks to complete. I've also asked him for his notes on his technique of applying his weathering materials and mediums.
I hope this helps alittle

Thanks for the kind words.
Sorry the pic I took over the mirror is a little dark, I'll reshoot it shortly in a better light.

Greg,
I'd be interested to see how these Isreali Spits turn out. I always thourght the Russian's used the Mk Vb Spits, had a 48 Hasegawa kit of a Mk Vb in Russian markings, swapped it for a Mk IX kit.

OOOPS typo there, that should of course have read Vb, sorry about that Rob. the Isreali spits are on the back burner at the mo untill i have got the Russian Spitfire, the Matchbox Phanton and the two Russian two seat Hurricanes done, then its the Isreali Spits, Matchbox Saab J29 Tunnan. and . not a brill pic of the spit but this is progress so far, i am going to have to remove the blue from the underside as it isn't quite as good a finish as i would like, rather old paint methinks???) all the best, Greg
