Heeey Alex!!!! ;D Ha ha, yep, To be perfectly honest I had been thinkin' on it but you beat me !!! , Great!!! OK, good to have you!!! For sure! I know this forum is kinda (kinda?? ) slow, but I kinda like it because of that, I know everybody here! LOL. One day it will be like the other forums and then it will be; "remember the good ol' days when there was like only 50 ppl on it?" And it won't be nice any more, it will be just like all the rest . At least we are on the ground floor of it!! That won't happen very often unless you start your own!! Anyhoo, glad you are stickin' around Alex, need good ppl like you!! Maybe after everybody has finished building their planes we will get more. There are some really good builders here!!! Have you checked out the car section?? Wow!! Those guys can build and PAINT!!! And , we got the best plane builders around too!! Especially Swanny, Scott, and Rob!! The others ain't too slack either!! And we got the best armor dude in Steve! So.. we aren't doing too bad! Well, now that you are here, I will go ahead and start on mine also. I am building my first airplane also, man, they are tough to build, cuz everything has to be perfect, can't hide mistakes like on armor !! But it is alot of fun! Nice to have you Alex, c'ya later gator. Bill

Hi Sean, ;D No, I did not, there seems to be a bit of a controversy here, perhaps some1 with more knowledge than I might have the answer, Steve (crockett) would be an excellent choice, Alex might also, It is just that I know Steve has books specifically related to Tiger tanks, I do not. But...I have done extensive research just about as far as the "net" can take you, There are a couple writings that say zimm was applied to "all vertical surfaces up to as high as a man can reach"! Well, that staement must not be a real and true German Wermancht order, because ALL pix (that I have seen) of German AFVs' that have zimm have it going to the top of the vehicle and it is applied to some horizontal surfaces also, (we had a heck of a discussion on this one day) mainly the top glacis plate (on a Tiger I). There is also writings that state it was applied to the hull under the side skirts of the Tigers, I have no evidence of this, I really don't see any1 being so stupid as to run up on a moving tank and try to stick that bomb inches away fron a 2 ton track moving at at any speed, unless he was suicidal, I mean he could just as easily stick it just a foot higher on the side. From what I have read and seen, there is a difference between what is written and what was really done, witness the previous stement on where zimm was applied. Sry for rambling on Sean, . Don't worry about it, I dont believe it was really applied there, and if it was it didnt last long for sure!! Imagine the beating that part of the hull took going through everything you can think of!!! . I mean alot of zimm was worn or knocked off just by walking on it for a period of time! So, when you take that little beauty to a contest and IF that particular question comes up, just tell 'em yours represents a vehicle that has been in the field for quite some time. Your Panther is awesome, that is a bang-up job on the zimm!!!!
